French Police get tough.

We could learn a thing or two as well imo when dealing with illegal immigrants.

French police got tough with nearly 300 immgrants in a camp dubbed 'The Jungle.

They're still just people who want to better their lives aren't they - Unpleasant to watch imo and I can't feel gleeful about it.

Many are Afghans and Iraqis,
Their countries have been invaded,
their lives have been destroyed,
now what little they have has been taken from them.
They are truly the Wretched of the Earth.

it was not the immigrants causing trouble it was French people saying leave them alone the prefect of Calais should force them to apply for asylum there instead of demanding Britain take the ones who do not claim after all it was the french who brought in the rule"asylum seekers must apply for asylum in the first European country the arrive in" I have nothing against immigrants that follow the rules and contribute to this country; I do have a problem with economic immigrants

it's rather cynical when they deliberately destroy all their documents so you do not know where to send them back to, especially the under-eighteens. but at least the issue has been sorted now. the "jungle" was a health risk and an eyesore.

Most dont have the documents in the first place to destroy. Iraq, for example is incredibly slowin issuing passports and under Saddam only gave to party members, so if you were persecuted by the state you had no way to get the documentation to enable you to leave/arrive legally.

That's why when the Mail and other cruddy tabloids used to bemoan Iraqis without passports, so how do you get one when the state wont issue you with one?
