Keith Floyd is dead.
The eccentric and original celebrity chef also died of a heart attack this morning.

It was a heart attack that got him actually Mick, it's a shame though he was really funny trying to cook whilst hammered.

plummy accent.
drank like a fish.
stubborn subversive streak.

i watched a prog about him last night on channel 4 called "keith allen meets keith floyd". according to my timing, he probabaly died whilst the prog was being aired.-that's spooky!!!

I bet he lived and enjoyed life in his 65 years though.

you can say that again!!!Syl wrote:

imo he was the original "celebrity chef". a real diva. (and a DAMNED good chef too).
gordon ramsay, raymond blanc, MP-W, etc. are just pretenders who
could not hold a candle to him.
Re: Keith Floyd is dead.
Anthony Warrall Thompson has been on the radio this morning, saying if Keith Floyd had'nt first aroused peoples curiosity in cooking, the way he did, none of the others would have had TV careers.
When you think, what an idealic life.
My lifes pleasures are eating, drinking, finding different restaurants, going out with friends, social chatter round a table, laden with good food, and fine wines.
He did all this....and got paid for it.

Re: Keith Floyd is dead.
he did drink to excess though. imo that is not the sign of an idyllic life, it is a sign of inner turmoil. drunks are sad ppl.Syl wrote:Anthony Warrall Thompson has been on the radio this morning, saying if Keith Floyd had'nt first aroused peoples curiosity in cooking, the way he did, none of the others would have had TV careers. RIP Keith.
I met him 20 years ago and he was an absolute scream. I would rather live life to the max and be a free spirit than die in a nursing home aged 90 with bed sores and have lived no life. Sure he was a piss head but i think he just liked wine.

Well i guess he did have issues as he had about 4 wives. I agree as i dated a guy 5 years ago who was an alcoholic and he had 4 ex wives. I had no idea he had drank so much till i stayed and found 20 empty vodka bottles under his sink. Sure glad i realised before i commited to him.

Re: Keith Floyd is dead.
I dont know that he was an alcoholic.
He certainly drank to excess, but one does'nt always follow the other.
Funnily enough, I was reading his story in last Sundays suplement.
He was warned, a few years ago, that if he carried on drinking, as he did, he would kill himself.
He did still drink though, but in moderation.
That does'nt sound like an alcoholic to me.

call it what you like. if you drink yourself unconscious daily and eventually lapse into a coma in hospital, it does not matter the f*** what you decide to call it.Syl wrote:I dont know that he was an alcoholic.

Re: Keith Floyd is dead.
This Welsh bloke i dated was a nasty drunk. When sober he was a darling but he used a vodka mouthwash every morning and was permanently pissed and i never even realised, in fact, i thought he seemed quite chilled and then he started to fall over a lot after 1 pint when we went out. I thought he had a migraine or something or was short sighted but he sank a box of red on a starter at Sunday lunch I think he is dead now.

Have to say.....True.
My best friend died from a stroke, years ago. She was 40, and drank like a fish daily.
No one called her an alcoholic, she would have been deeply offended.
She's still dead though.

Re: Keith Floyd is dead.
No probs Canny. I do have a habit of saying things in all seriousness, and them coming out all wrong.
Its even more frustrating though, when I think I have said something hilarious, ..and everyone remains stony faced.
