I agree.
I don't understand why people choose to live in these places.Even San Francisco has earthquakes.

In the UK we have approximately 50 earthquakes per year although most are minor

Choose to live in these places? Surely because it's their home. Where else would they go?

The islands of Western Samoa were first settled about 3,000 years ago, after a very gradual migration eastwards into the Pacific from people originating in South East Asia. Samoa, it seems, was the cradle of the Polynesian culture, and archaeological evidence suggests settlers from Samoa then spread to the other islands of Polynesia including Hawaii, Tahiti and New Zealand.

Well, seeing as the area was populated by man's ancestors 20 Billion years ago, and by modern man in approximatately 2000AD their lack of equipment with which to accurately predict earthquake must have been a drawback.

They can't even predict them now.
Don't tell me.They thought earthquakes were a punishment from their Gods.So they stayed.

So it does.Months instead of years.I think animals are the best at warning of an impending earthquake.Five days in some cases.Nanning earthquake bureau in China uses snakes.
